Will ICAI be able to conduct CA Exams in July 2020?

The biggest question in every CA Student's mind is will ICAI be able to conduct exams as per its recent planned dates from 29th July or not?

Well, there is no doubt that ICAI has taken much more active initiatives in time for the smooth functioning of examinations so far. ICAI has already postponed May 20 exams two times as of now.

The current status of planned dates as per ICAI is the end of July. But the question is whether ICAI will be able to actually conduct exams.

There are a lot of challenges with ICAI regarding this:

Schools converted to Quarantine Zones

Schools converted to Quarantine Zones

The ground reality is many exam centers have already been converted to quarantine centers due to the increased spread of COVID 19. ICAI might require to find new centers in such cases.

Stringent Rules in Residential Societies

Stringent Rules in Residential Societies

Cross Countrywide many residential societies are making stringent rules to restrict the movement of their residences. it would be a challenge for ICAI to arrange supervisors and also students living in these societies might have to face extra pressure than studies.

Printing of Question papers

Printing of question papers from printers might be another challenge for ICAI

Sudden Lockdown
Sudden Lockdown

If in case, there will be any sudden lockdown in any area over the country during the exams, how will ICAI manage that

Students' Issues

Students' Issues

Many students who are having exams are in a dilemma

Short of Resources

Firstly, those ones who were studying outstate before lockdown and they shifted back home when lockdown announced, now they are short of resources.

Students undergoing Articleship

Those who were outstate and under articleship period, now it might be if in case there will be release in lockdown, their principals may pressure them to resume office as offices will also have much pressure of pendency

Students doing Jobs & Studies

Those who were in jobs and writing exams, they shifted back to home before lockdown, now ICAI recently opened correction window to change centers, but what if they change their exam center as in their hometown and thereafter during exams in July, they will have to rejoin their offices, how will they manage this situation, they might have to choose between job and exams. obviously, both are important for them, but its a kind of very tough situation

Students' Issues
Social Distancing Norms

There is one more challenge if exams will be held in July to manage the social distancing rules which are a prior matter for everyone to avoid any new cases during the exams.

If in case anytime during the exam, any new positive case will be detected, what will ICAI plan for such a situation? will they cancel those center exams?

Conclusion

There are many more issues that can be highlighted in such a scenario. It's actually a very challenging job for ICAI to conduct exams.

I hope ICAI will take the right actions as it deems fit for the betterment of the nation, society, and students.

  3. One more issue which I am concerned about, CA exam centres are very few. People have to travel from one district to another and from one state to another to and fro daily to write their exam. Say, I am from Kanyakumari District, Tamil Nadu. Students from my district some write the exam in Tirunelveli(another district) and some write in Trivandrum, Kerala another state. So we require public transport between districts and states. Otherwise, we can't reach exam centres. Already we are facing more stress and here few are in the containment zone. I request the Institute to consider every student in all the states.

  7. None of the issues posted here is of your concern. Firstly you are saying students are worried. Why are you increasing their worries by posting this? If possible please encourage the students to write exam. Centre issue, printing issue, these matters will be dealt well by professionals at the institute. Don't discourage students. We are already tired of postponements.

  12. Travelling will not be easy... If a guy has Kozhikode(Kerala) as center and if he lives at Malappuram or Vadakara, he has to travel a long distance and will be too difficult to attend the exam
