The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, Was set up in 1949 under the Chartered Accountants Act, 1949 even before the adoption of the Constitution of India in 1950.
Whose mission is that "The Indian Accountancy Profession will be the Valued Trustee of World Class Financial Competencies, Good Governance, and Competitiveness"
Since then Profession has grown leaps and bounds in terms of Membership and Student base.
Yesterday, some of CA Professionals started spreading messages all over the twitter accusing Income Tax Department of India as on official website of Income Tax Department of India, a message was showing as footer like this:
Well, their opinion was not wrong that one side ICAI and all the CA professionals feel as partner in nation-building. They say that it's us the CAs who encourage taxpayers to pay tax and we guide them to follow all compliance procedures as laid down by the Government of India itself.
In such a case the Income Tax Department should not encourage this kind of message in the society which may lead to avoid following CAs and their advice. They say that ICAI should take an official stand on this kind of encouragement of the Income Tax Department of India.
However, if we see closely the website of Income Tax India, it seems like those messages showing as footer on their website is testimonials of users of website. As income Tax Department has not shown any source of those messages, its hard to find out the actual source. But as it is showing on Income tax Oficial e filing website, it's obvious that the department is encouraging these kinds of messages.
So far, neither ICAI nor ITD has said anything official in this regard, but this issue is getting hotter as the time goes.
